In Conversation With: Andrea Whitehead
Grab a coffee and let’s have a chat! We’re talking with our owner, Andrea Whitehead, about all things House of White, and her role in bringing it to where it is today.
Describe the House of White Experience in three words
“Intentional, elevated unforgettable”
How has House of White evolved over the years?
“Every year gets better and better. We are constantly evolving, adapting, and setting our goals higher. My #1 advice for new business owners is constant self evaluation and evolution. Examine what’s working and what’s not, and adapt accordingly. I love looking back at the year on Dec. 31 and think “look at all we did!” And to me the most obvious change from the early days is our team. House of White truly began as a “mom and pop shop”, so when I look at the invaluable team of women who are now on board and who take such care with my vision, I’m so grateful.”
How was House of White Born?
“I was working in the fashion industry in Toronto and had segued into luxury bridal styling. I just had a feeling that by introducing a new type of bridal experience to the Midwest, plus incorporating my knowledge of fashion and garment construction, my vision was sure to resonate with brides and their families. My husband was immediately on board to take this leap with me, and after several attempts I finally found a female in the banking industry who had faith in funding a 29 year old female first-time entrepreneur. Our jewel box at 3 Market Street was sitting there waiting for us, and in a whirlwind of sanding, painting, and sweat, before I knew it we had our first bride booked in September of 2012.”
If you were getting married again tomorrow, which gown would you wear?
“Degas by Anne Barge… paired with a bouncy blowout and a super simple cathedral veil”
With love,
the House of White Team
