Let's Talk Undergarments
Let’s get personal. We always get questions about what to wear under your wedding gown, so we’re here to officially address all your concerns!
We recently came back from a bridal retailer summit where we learned a lot about working with today’s brides. One major takeaway from the focus groups they conducted across the country was this: brides are really worried about their underwear. What to wear with their dress, what to bring shopping, whether they need a special bra, or if they should wear shapewear.
You’ll want to wear seamless underwear that’s as close as possible to your skin tone. Wear whatever style is comfortable for you—thong, hipster, high-waist, or low-waist—as long as it’s flesh-toned and seamless. We love styles by Skims and Spanx.
Just be sure you wear some sort of underwear. And if on your wedding day you want to go commando, you have our full support.
We never recommend shapewear as a necessity. Wedding gowns are so well-constructed and supportive that they often act as your shapewear. However, if shapewear feels like a security blanket and makes you feel better, by all means—wear it. Always wear what feels good to you!
We always recommend trying on wedding gowns without a bra. There’s no need to bring a strapless bra or invest in an expensive corset. The support is typically built right into the gown.
Unless you’re trying on a very slinky slip dress by design, wearing a bra would be misleading to how the gown fits. Count on built-in support, built-in bras, and corseting—and additional cups can always be added if needed.
That’s it! I hope this sheds some light and calms any anxiety about undergarments as you move through your bridal gown journey.
With love,
