Big Day Small Talk Episode 1: Allow Us To Reintroduce Ourselves
Hello! And welcome to our very first vlog. In my mind this right here is the moment when we have some zippy little intro music and this fun graphic that splashes across the screen. But, like I said, this is our first vlog. We'll get there.
What do I want this vlog to be? I hope that you are coming here because you like what we have to say, and have enjoyed following us on social media where we love just talking about different topics that we love, whether it be bridal fashion, weddings, style, all of it. We're really just looking to expand on that and hopefully create some content for you guys that hopefully uplifts your day, and just gives you a break from your cubicle, your house, your chores, whatever. And we can talk about fun stuff!
I thought for my very first vlog I would just use this as an opportunity to reintroduce ourselves. As of this September we will officially be in our seventh year of business which is just thrilling. And with that milestone approaching I decided to take the plunge on some fun changes that I had been wanting to make to House of White for a long time. A "Glow Up", if you will. So I'll kind of walk you through some of these fun new changes that are in store for our seventh year at House of White.
First off, my name is Andrea and I am the owner of House of White. I am an Indiana girl and decided in 2012 that I wanted to venture in to the world of small business ownership. My start, I think, in bridal fashion began when my husband's job took us to Toronto for a few years. I decided to study fashion design and was really focused on bridal fashion. Bridal fashion appeals to me for so many reasons, mainly because it's fashion with sentimentality, which I love. I love the tradition behind bridal fashion, but I also love playing with that tradition, so this is a perfect fit for me. I worked in fashion design and loved that. I think the first time I worked with an actual bride and styled her for wedding, everything changed. I pitched the idea to my husband that we move to Indiana and start our own bridal boutique. I had experienced first hand what personal styling service could bring to bridal shopping. And I thought this would be a great way to use my skills. I honestly can't even tell you what happened between pitching that idea and closing on 3 Market Street, this beautiful historic building on the riverfront in Downtown Newburgh. But, before I knew it we were off to the races. And now, here we are seven years later.
The biggest changes I can think of that we've made to House of White have been the people. In the beginning it was just Chris and I handling everything ourselves: working with every bride, answering every phone call, taking every measurement. But now we have this incredible group of women who work alongside us and execute this perfect vision that I had for what the House of White experience would be. And they do it with such care and such love for each and every one of their brides.
So, I would say maybe around the five year mark I started to get this kind of itch to change up our branding. I think anyone who owns a small business will tell you that redoing your logo, rebranding your business, there's something about it that kind of feels like you're renaming your first child. I loved our original logo. We developed it and started it before we really knew what House of White was. What was our identity. Who are we and what are we providing to our brides? And now seven years later I know exactly what that is and I know exactly what I wanted that brand to say. And what I love about our new logo is that it expresses this amazing strength and power that I think is what makes House of White so special. We are empowering women to make this decision. You can see it. You know, those five seconds before a bride says "Yes" to her dress, you can just see that confidence and that courage welling up inside her and the words bubbling inside her and that is my favorite. Every step of the way that we are working with a bride, we are helping her decide who she wants to be on her wedding day. When a bride says "Yes! This is my wedding dress" she is on top of the world. She feels so empowered, she knows who she is with such certainty in that moment, I wish I could bottle up that feeling and share it with the world. Share it with every woman who has ever felt a little bit lost or a little bit unsure or a little bit lacking in confidence.
So, we've been in the process of unveiling this new brand. We have a beautiful new website, new signage. Lots of exciting, fresh new things for you to come and experience.
I appreciate you checking in with my very first vlog. This concept is going to evolve just like everything with House of White does. We're excited to flush out different ideas and concepts and conversations with you guys and also welcome some fun personalities and faces into this mix as well. So, thank you to everyone for the past seven years who have supported House of White and have allowed us to be part of such a special time in your lives. Thank you so much for checking in, and we'll see you next time!
