Our #1 Bridal Shopping Tip

I asked our team: what is the number one piece of advice you would give to brides who are starting their gown shopping journey? And their response was unanimous across the entire team.

Team House of Whites’ number one piece of advice? Book one bridal appointment at a time.

In other words, avoid booking a full day of back-to-back appointments if you can possibly avoid it. The reason being: bridal appointments are far more exhausting than you’re expecting, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

On busy Saturdays, we typically see one of two scenarios. First, brides who have been shopping all day at multiple stores, by the time they reach us, they and their group are completely over it. They’re tired, hungry, drained, and not really in tune with how they feel in each dress because it’s simply been too much.

Or scenario number two: brides who worked with us earlier in the day and circle back to purchase one of their original favorites. After a full day of comparison shopping, every appointment in between feels awkward, because they’ve already found their dress and are just going through the motions. By then, they’re too exhausted for the magical “yes” moment they could have had.

We see this all the time, and it’s really easy to avoid.

Here’s how: one bridal appointment in a day is plenty. Pair that with lunch or brunch with your shopping buddies, and that’s a perfectly lovely day.

If there are multiple shops you’re curious about, separate appointments by at least 24 hours. Your sanity will thank you.

Ideally, book one appointment at a bridal store that feels like a good fit. Go, experience it, and be present. You may find something you absolutely adore, and often, the biggest sign it’s your dress is that you don’t want to see anything else.

However, if at the end of that appointment, you still don't feel like you exactly found it, walk away, regroup. Think about what did you learn from that appointment? What did you like? What are you curious to see more of? Modify your approach and book one more appointment and carry on that system until you found your dress.

With love,

Andrea
