Don't Forget to Assign This Important Wedding Day Task
There’s one very important wedding day job that often gets overlooked, but it can make a huge difference in how your day ends.
While there’s always a lot of excitement and planning around getting into your gown, many brides forget to plan for getting out of it, and making sure everything gets safely back to them afterward.
Here’s what you need to do.
Before your wedding day, assign this role to someone you trust, someone you know will be there until the very end of the night. For the sake of this story, let’s call her Megan. (Every Megan we know is incredibly reliable.)
When you’re ready to change out of your gown, you’ll find Megan, and she’ll bring along two very important things.
First: the original containers for your bridal jewelry. You wouldn’t believe how many brides we hear from after their wedding who have lost pieces of their jewelry. Having those original boxes on hand ensures everything has a safe place to go at the end of the night.
Second: a gown preservation kit. This kit includes everything needed to send your gown off for professional cleaning and preservation, packing materials, a shipping label, and a form to designate where your gown should be sent once it’s complete.
Once you’re ready, you’ll change out of your dress and hand it to Megan. She’ll carefully place it into the preservation box, along with your veil (don’t forget that), so everything stays together and protected.
Then, the next day, Megan simply drops the package off at UPS, and that’s it. Your gown is on its way to be cleaned, preserved, and returned to your doorstep in the weeks that follow.
All of this to say: before your wedding day even begins, establish who your helper is going to be and let them take this one little thing off of your plate that can make major impact.
