The Most Important Thing to Do Before Wedding Dress Shopping

Of all the things you can do to prepare for bridal gown shopping, this is the most important.

Truly, the number one thing you should do before your appointment is simple: eat. I promise you, it can make or break your experience.

If you’re shopping in the morning, have a good breakfast. If your appointment is later in the day, make time for a proper lunch. It’s incredibly common for brides to skip a meal beforehand because they’re worried about how they’ll look in gowns. But the reality is, gown shopping is an arduous process.

Going into it on an empty stomach can lead to brain fog, lightheadedness, decision fatigue, and yes, hanger. And if you add champagne into the mix, it only amplifies everything.

Finding your dress is about how you feel. It’s about your instincts and your emotional response to each gown. And you simply can’t tune into those feelings if they’re being drowned out by hunger.

The last thing we ever want is for a bride to miss out on what should be a joyful, memorable moment with her loved ones because she ran out of energy.

So here’s the bottom line: feeling good will always triumph over feeling thin.

Be kind to your body throughout this process. Give it the fuel it needs to carry you through these really special moments. And brides, this applies to your wedding day, too. Eat, hydrate, and pack a snack.

You’ll enjoy every moment so much more because of it <3
