El'Agance + Garret

October 11, 2024

“Growing up doing pageants, I've tried on a lot of dresses but I wanted this experience to be different. The ladies at HOW considered that and helped me find something new, unique, and flattering. I've heard great things about HOW but I was surprised with how they made me and my family/friends feel so welcomed and comfortable while waiting and deciding. Wedding dress shopping can be very overwhelming but Hannah made me feel at ease and helped me make a pros/cons list when I was torn between two dresses.” - El’Agance

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BAE!

“Garret Pate and I met in High School in 2015-2016  but we were both seeing other people then. About 3-4 years later we reconnected back in Owensboro during Christmas break and immediately hit it off. He asked me on a date the next day and we’ve been inseparable ever since. I knew after that first date I had met my best friend and future husband. We started dating in leap year 2020. Garret tried to propose a few times but the saying ‘Third time a charm’ was true in this situation. I’m a News Anchor in Evansville, Indiana and he called my boss to set up the proposal. They sent me on a fake news report in downtown Owensboro at Friday After 5. I had just finished my first live shot and as I was getting ready for my second live report, Garret appeared out of nowhere. It did not seem real until I saw my close friend Camille Armstrong pop out of the bushes with her camera and my 44News photographer pointed the camera towards us. I was so speechless for once, I could not tell you what he said to me but I know it was the best feeling in the world.”

WEDDING DAY ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES

“My wedding day advice for future brides...get a good night's rest and start your morning EARLY! The day flies by so fast and you'll need a moment for yourself to take it all in before you walk down the aisle. It's such a beautiful experience so try not to stress about the little things and live in the moment.”

FAVORITE ACCESSORY FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY

“My favorite accessory on my wedding day had to be my dress of course, and my House of White earrings that I used as my 'Something borrowed' from my best friend Madeline Phelps.”

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DANCE SONG?

“Our first dance song was “At Last” by Etta James and it was so special because my mom sang it live for us. Growing up, I watched my mom sing that song at dozens of weddings, so it only felt right for her to sing it on my wedding day.”

A SPECIAL MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY

“Our day was so magical, it's hard to pick one special moment so I'll share a few. Garret and I decided to write notes to each of our guests to read before the ceremony started. Once the harpist started playing they were all able to read their notes of how much they meant to us and I think It set the tone for the emotional moments ahead. Another special moment for us was having our families so involved in the wedding. Garret's father, (who also shares the same anniversary) officiated our wedding - My sister-in-law did my hair and makeup - we had our siblings as our MOH and Best man - my mom walked me down the aisle and she sang our first dance.”

Thank you for sharing your day with us! We loved sharing a small part of it with you!
