Megan + Hayden

January 21, 2023

“I always knew I wanted to find my perfect dress at House of White, so when it was finally time, I was SO beyond excited. Andrea made me feel so comfortable from the minute I walked in! She was patient, even when I was excited about the possibility of one style and immediately wanted to try something else. She and everyone at House of White made me feel so important and beautiful! The atmosphere is so fun and chic and friendly, I can't imagine having found 'the one' anywhere else!” - Megan

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BAE!

“My husband's name is Hayden. I grew up with a handful of his cousins and had been around his family for years before we ever even met, although we officially met through mutual friends in late 2015. Fast forward about 6 months to early 2016, and the rest was history! Our proposal story is definitely a bit different and a lot more casual than most proposals, but that's exactly how I wanted it to be! According to Hayden, the original plan was to propose while we went on a solo weekend lake trip where we rented a beautiful cabin and took our dog with us, but unfortunately my ring had not come back in time (!!). He even had gone to my dad right before we left town, unbeknownst to be, to "ask his permission", which he knew was important to me. At the time, he was working in Louisville every day during the week, being home only Friday nights through Sunday; so once he knew my ring had come in, he snuck into town on a Wednesday and surprised me by being down on one knee when I walked into the apartment after walking my dog. It was intimate, private, and so special- exactly what I had wanted!”

WEDDING DAY ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES

“Get a good night’s sleep the night before!! This may seem obvious, but my husband and I had everyone over to our house after the rehearsal dinner for a bit of pre-celebrating. Before I knew it, it was much later than I realized, but I was having so much fun with everyone, I didn’t want to leave to go to sleep! My best friends and I were staying at the hotel so we could get up early the next morning, and the excitement made it even harder to eventually fall asleep. Yes, it’s fun to spend time with everyone and anticipate the next day, but I wish I would have gone straight to the hotel, put on a face mask, watched a RomCom with my besties, and fallen asleep before 10 pm. Soak it in!!! They aren’t lying when they say you blink and it’s over. It truly does go by in the absolute blink of an eye. I can’t believe as I write this, it’s already been 5 months! I feel like it was just yesterday and so much longer ago, all at once. Lastly, and arguably the most important tip of all… Break. Your. Shoes. In. By the time our ceremony had ended at 7:30, I had been on my feet in heels I had never worn before, since 3 pm, and we still had 30~ minutes of family pictures to take. My feet were hurting so badly that I just wanted to get to the reception so I could take my shoes off!!”

FAVORITE ACCESSORY FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY

“Oh my gosh, SO many of my accessories were my favorites! If I could say all of them, I would! Excluding my engagement ring (which is my favorite piece of jewelry I've ever laid eyes on!), I absolutely loved my veil- it was cathedral length and covered in pearls, to match my earrings. I also put on some pearl covered gloves for my reception, which I plan to put into a shadow box one day to hang on a nursery wall, if I ever have a daughter. But the most important accessory to me, is the blue sapphire ring my mother gave to me that morning. It was my grandmother's ring who passed away in 2015, so wearing it on my right hand was so very special.”

A SPECIAL MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY

“The next day, Hayden's uncle told us that his daughter, Sarah, who was our flower girl, had gushed about how much fun she had had with us all day. She said "if I could, I'd stay in the hotel with them for a month straight!" I loved making her feel like one of the girls, and hearing how much fun she had was such a sweet moment.”
