While we’re confident in saying House of White has may things to offer our brides within our walls, there’s a lot to be said for what’s happening outside our walls, as well! Saying ‘yes’ to your wedding dress is an experience brides have been traveling far and wide to do for the past 11 years…we like to think of ourselves as the ultimate bridal destination. And luckily the fun can continue even after you leave our shop, thanks to the charm and loveliness of our beloved neighborhood.
House of White is situated in the center of Historic Downtown Newburgh, a quaint historic shopping district on the riverfront in Southern Indiana. Just outside of Evansville, it’s a picturesque little nook with beautifully preserved historic structures — including ours. What’s been nice about establishing House of White in Historic Newburgh over the past 11 years is that we can offer our brides not only a superior bridal shopping experience, but an entire day or weekend that they’ll always cherish! Today we’ve got a few suggested spots we recommend visiting for the ultimate experience when you make your journey to House of White.
where to stay:
We love this adorably quaint Airbnb, located right on the riverfront above one of our favorite coffee spots in Downtown Newburgh. Perfect access for walking, hiking, running, or bike riding on the popular riverfront trail. With epic views of the Ohio River including a 2nd story balcony view of beautiful sunrises and sunsets, our stylish loft apartment is located directly over Honey Moon Coffee shop. 2 complimentary drip coffees are included with your stay.
If you are bringing the whole gang and want to make it a party, we love the vibes of this roomy Downtown Newburgh Airbnb. It’s decorated adorably and has ample space for you and your whole shopping squad. There’s even an additional cottage available on the same property, as well.
And if a hotel is more your vibe…
You can also find a perfectly situated hotel just outside the Downtown Newburgh core. A quick drive will get you right to House of White, and to Downtown Newburgh for all the shopping and dining options you desire.
where to dine:
A unique menu that also happens to please everybody in your group. We love this spot for lunch or dinner, and it’s a fantastic option for cocktails during patio season.
The views from this dining spot are practically Newburgh iconography. We always recommend The Landing for groups large or small, and is a great option for lunch or dinner.
The food at this casual seafood spot is unbeatable: oysters, fish and chips, yummy salads - it’s all fresh and fabulous.
We love taking a break for a coffee, ice cream, or a light bight on this river front patio. Their ever-changing specials menu never disappoints and it’s a charming place for a caffeine fix.
where to shop:
We can never think of a more fun way to come down off the adrenaline of saying ‘Yes’ to your dress like some casual retail therapy in Downtown Newburgh. Flutter’s vibe is always fresh and fun, with unique clothing pieces as well as amazing denim staples. And don’t leave without visiting the shoe selection…trust us :)
This stunning spot for apparel and home goods is the type of retail experience that has to be seen to be believed. It’s a perfect spot for freshening-up your home or wardrobe with anything from a special little trinket to complete home furnishings. Walking into The Barefoot Cottage is like taking a little vacation!
We love popping into JO + CO anytime we need a little wardrobe upgrade. They have a great combination of fun, on-trend pieces as well as wardrobe staples!
