Trend Report: Ballgowns are Back

One may be thinking, “How are ballgowns be back? Where did the go?”. It’s true, something like a ballgown style bridal gown never really goes away: it’s as classic as weddings themselves. But insiders in the industry like us know that for the past few seasons, trends have moved away from full ballgown styles in favor of more a-line and slimmer styles.

Much to our delight, for 2023 brides ballgowns are back and more grand than ever! Designers and brides alike are embracing the drama and classic elegance of a full-skirted gown, and with the popularity of second reception looks, one doesn’t have to compromise on comfort when saying ‘yes’ to an elaborate ballgown.

Today we’re doing a roundup of some favorite ballgown styles in our new arrivals that brides are already loving. Take a look and see which ballgown suits you best!

We don’t like to play favorites, but a new ballgown that’s shot to the top of our list of favorites is style 1531 by Martina Liana. This voluminous textured ballgown skirt is the stuff dreams are made of. The skirt is relatively lightweight, partly in thanks to it’s feathery tulle fabrication. And while we’re easily distracted by the wow-factor skirt, the stunning bodice deserves a shoutout as well - her construction is nothing short of perfection.

D3686 is an amazing option for wow-factor-on-a-budget. This stunner by Essense of Australia offers volume and drama at a very digestible price point, and we promise you won’t compromise on quality. Her stunning pleated bodice gives a nipped-waist that is contrasted by the stunning voluminous tulle skirt. There’s even some optional floral details that are definitely worth seeing in person.

Style 1557 is as classic as they come, but with a fun little surprise for the modern bride. The voluminous ballgown skirt on this stunner is completely detachable, revealing a slim gown with a slit skirt for a reception option. Our brides are loving the versatility of this look, as two bridal looks is definitely a hot trend for 2023!

We lovingly recall Paris Hilton’s stunning wedding gown when we think of style 1517 by Martina Liana. It was a major celebrity bridal moment for a reason, and is often brought to us by brides as inspiration for their wedding look. This gown has such a high-end, couture bridal feel for an elegant and regal wedding look. We love it styled with a cathedral veil to fully capture the couture bride vibes.

We’ll admit, the Florence gown by Made with Love is on the slimmer end of the ballgown spectrum…but we’re including her because she’s just that perfect. Her pleated silk skirt is lightweight and effortless, but still gives the ballgown vibes with a fitted bodice. Plus, she has pockets!

Medicea by Pronovias is destined for an elegant wedding entrance. Even if you ignore the bold gold statement florals throughout this gown, you’re still left with a jaw-dropping silhouette and statement bow train. We love the idea of styling her with a sleek updo and gold accessories…possibly even an ornate gold tiara if you dare!
