Currently Loving: Gowns with Sleeves
We adore a wedding gown with a sleeve, and with good reason! It’s a timeless style that’s always elegant, and neither Grace Kelly or Kate Middleton would ever lead us astray.
While a long sleeved gown is always a constant in bridal fashion, the style in which its executed varies from season to season. Currently we’re seeing designers embellish lace sleeves with pearls and crystals, or smooth and sleek sleeves in buttery crepe. Whatever your fancy, there is a long sleeved style out there that will achieve that elegant effect you’re sure to love.

When shopping for a gown with sleeves, we suggest keeping the following things in mind!
Fit is key! You’ll likely be trying on a sample gown that isn’t a perfect fit like your actual gown will be, so keep an open mind. Sleeves will be tightened or loosened to fit your shape like a glove, which truly makes for he best appearance (and photos). So when you’re trying on a gown with sleeves, your stylist will pin or clamp the sleeves to give the illusion of a perfect fit, and if the sleeves feel a bit snug, don’t fret! We’ll be sure that your wedding gown is perfectly comfortable for optimal comfort.
Sleeves are for any time! Don’t feel like sleeves are only for Winter Weddings. A nice lightweight illusion lace sleeve is stunning in the Spring or Summer. The reality is that sleeves on a wedding gown are not there for warmth; they’re there for a ‘look’. So if you’re getting married in the warmer months (or you bought a long sleeve gown and had to postpone) a stunning long sleeve is most definitely appropriate any time of year.
It’s not uncommon to lose a bit of your range of motion when wearing a wedding gown with sleeves. We’re not talking about a straight jacket situation…but you’ll likely feel more restricted than normal. Our two cents? Don’t expect to ‘raise the roof’, but you’ll have plenty of room to do all the things you need to do on your big day: i.e., hugging loved ones, dancing with new spouse, toasting to the festivities, etc.
