Tips for Styling Your Gown with the Perfect Accessories
Finding the perfect gown feels like a major task within itself. But we find that deciding on the perfect accessories can be an unexpected challenge. Fear not, we’re here to help!
The accessories worn on your wedding day are what make the complete bridal look truly ‘yours’. A specific combination of pieces can take the same dress from ‘glam’ to ‘boho’ to ‘traditional’ all with how you style it. It’s understandable for brides to feel overwhelmed when trying to find the perfect combo of pieces.
Styling our brides from head to toe is one of our favorite endeavors, and we have all the tips and tricks to help you select the perfect wedding day accessories!
Tip #1: Choose your accessories while you’re in your gown
It can be tempting to scroll accessory options on your phone, but it’s very easy to misjudge colors and sizes online. The varied range of the shade ivory can alone drive you bonkers. That’s why we suggest slipping into your gown and explore your jewelry, veil, and shoe options to determine exactly which pieces work best with your stunning gown. You’ll be surprised how different accessories can illuminate different aspects of your gown in ways you’d never expect. We suggest booking a Styling Appointment (we welcome all brides to come see us, even if you purchased your gown elsewhere!) so we can find the perfect combination of accessories to suit your style.
Tip #2: If it feels like a bit too much, it’s probably just right
We fully support an understated look if that’s your style, but when it comes to your accessories we often suggest going just a tad bigger than your typical comfort zone. Everything on your wedding day is ‘bigger’ and ‘more’: your hair is more done, your makeup is more elaborate, and you’re center stage among a crowd of loved ones. Tiny accessories can easily get lost, therefore we suggest going a tad bigger with your pieces than you might normally do. Just trust us, we won’t let you overdo it. Which brings me to tip #3…
Tip #3: Do a trial run of your wedding day look
It’s best to try on accessories with your hair and makeup styled similarly to how you’d like it to be on your wedding day. You can even take it one step further and book an accessories styling appointment directly after your hair and makeup trial. That way you can explore veil and hair accessory options that work with your look, and we can walk you and your family through how to properly put your veil in your hair! (you’d be surprised how many people do it incorrectly).
