A bride holds an 'I said yes to the dress' sign in House of White in Newburgh, Indiana

You said ‘yes’ to your dress! what’s next?

You did it! Hopefully you’re feeling a huge sigh of relief after finding your perfect gown. Enjoy this moment!

Often the minutes between saying ‘yes’ and signing your bridal contract are a bit of a blur, so allow us to provide you all the info of what happens next so you can reference it at your convenience.

  • Now that your gown is ordered, the designer will get to work cutting and sewing a brand new gown just for you (hence the long lead time). Just as a reminder, no further changes or modifications can be made to your gown beyond this point. If you have any questions, please reach out to us.

  • Generally a bridal gown will arrive to us between 4-6 months from the time it is ordered, unless a rush delivery was pre-arranged.

  • Once your gown arrives, you will receive a text message from us alerting you of its arrival, and requesting that you book your “First Look” Appointment.

    • What is a First Look Appointment, you ask? It’s an opportunity for you to come in and try on your newly received gown. We have you try it on, assess the fit and give it one final quality control check. We also provide guidance on what alterations you may want to consider, and can provide suggested seamstresses from our referral list based on what you need to tailor your gown. If you have a remaining balance at the time of your first look, you’ll finalize payment before taking home your brand new gown. Just a reminder, checks are not accepted for final payment. If you prefer to pay with check, we’ll ask you to return at a later date for pickup once the check has cleared.

  • What about accessories?

    • Any accessories purchased along with your gown will be stored for you until your gown’s arrival, and you’ll collect everything at your First Look Appointment.

    • Any accessories you tried on and loved during your bridal appointment but didn’t purchase have been saved in your file. If at any point you’d like to move forward with purchasing those favorites, simply reach out and we can send you an invoice remotely.

    • If you’re looking to shop accessories, you can do so at your First Look Appointment, or you can book a specific Accessory Styling appointment with us at any time.

  • What about cleaning and preservation? House of White offers full service cleaning and preservation for your convenience. If you did not purchase gown cleaning at your appointment, you can do so online or in person at any time going forward. It’s recommended to have your gown and veil cleaned as promptly as possible after your wedding to return your gown to it’s original condition and prevent stain setting.

As always, you can reach us via phone or via text by replying to a previous text from our team. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have!

With Love,

Team House of White
